Discovery Capabilities

The Scalable LIVE! platform uses state of the art agentless discovery technology that is scalable, flexible and dynamically extensible; by leveraging the modular design of the platform, discovery can be relied upon to support any platform and environment that can connect to a network.

Furthermore, Scalable LIVE! does not require any programming skills or deep domain knowledge in order for our customers and partners to extend the discovery capabilities of the platform.

How is Discovery Implemented?

Implemented on the Scalable LIVE! PAD, are a range of probes which implement the following protocols: ICMP, NMAP, LDAP, SNMP, SSH, AMT and WMI. Partners can add probes to this list as they see fit, and the newly developed probes can be dynamically deployed onto the PADs.Scalable LIVE Network Map

Probes are invoked via scripts, built with industry standard scripting languages, called processors. These processors can be tested externally to the system for discovery, data processing and data mapping. Scalable LIVE! is deployed with a large library of processors to populate its default schema. The net result is LIVE! can perform a full hardware/software audit on Windows, Unix, Linux, Printers, Network devices and other systems that use any of the above technologies.

Custom discovery probes are as easy to develop as a simple Windows/Linux script. Thus discovering non-standard devices and operating systems is no longer a chore but something that can be done in a versatile manner and re-used.

The upside of all of this is the zero touch nature associated with agentless discovery. When light weight agentless discovery is coupled with a highly scalable and flexible discovery model, you have the ultimate in zero touch discovery solution which can scale to thousands of machines and support a multitude of heterogeneous environments.
