Chaklun Recognition Engine
Chaklun” is a wizard or oracle of mythology. Chaklun in Scalable LIVE! is a query engine, normalization facility and data repository that leverages Scalable’s many years of experience and knowledge about assets, allowing applications built on the Scalable LIVE! platform to gain access to this knowledgebase.
Among the data that Chaklun currently exposes is information about over 20,000 hardware and software manufacturers, along with the means of recognizing and normalizing instances of those manufacturers hardware and software assets. An example of Chaklun’s manufacturers normalization would ensure that “Microsoft”, “Microsoft Corp.”, “Microsoft, Ltd.”, etc. would all map to the same company automatically, eliminating the need for customers to manually adjust manufacturer and vendor information after the fact.
Chaklun can easily be extended as additional data repositories are added, without affecting existing applications. Applications can query Chaklun for updates to existing data they may hold, so as data is refined and added, applications can be kept in sync automatically.
In cases where customers encounter assets of which Chaklun is unaware (for instance, new vendors), Chaklun notes these cases for research and follow-up, allowing new manufacturers and vendors to be identified quickly for all customers. (No customer-specific data is ever noted in these cases, ensuring customer privacy). Scalable maintains both an automated and human research platform to handle cases where Chaklun is unable to provide an accurate answer to the application request.
