For many organizations, Oracle represents one of the biggest software investments. Oracle’s licensing is extremely complex and gathering the data to establish licensing baselines is a detailed technical exercise, which puts many of Oracle’s customers at a disadvantage during a software audit. Scalable’s Oracle Database Service Detection module automates the detection of all Oracle database instances and surfaces all metrics necessary to establish exactly how much of Oracle’s database products and options are being consumed. This module also produces a License Management Services (LMS) compatible report which can be submitted to Oracle as part of the true-up or audit process.
Deep inspection of the Oracle DB environment enables Asset Vision to surface licensable information on installed and active Oracle options. In conjunction with other information gathered by Asset Vision, these features enable a fully compliant License Management Services (LMS) report to be automatically generated. Organizations can now confidently fend off Oracle audit incursions.
Oracle Database Service Detection
Asset Vision provides flexible approaches to Oracle database service detection. Oracle databases can be detected using conventional network scanning, looking for Oracle listener services, or via the widely used LDAP registration information populated by instances. From this list a deep analysis of the configuration of each instance is completed using a variety of techniques and scripts.
