Vision

We are in the grip of the worst financial crisis in living memory. While the much vaunted green-shoots of recovery seem to exist only on the pages of the more optimistic newspapers, IT remains in a precarious position.

The reasons behind the current economic crisis are complex, and are certainly not attributable to the management of IT systems. However, the macro-economic nature of the problems certainly does not mean IT has no part to play in this drama. Specifically, as companies look to drive down costs in response to lackluster demand and availability of capital, the employees who are most proactive in cost-saving initiatives are those most likely to survive the inevitable rounds of staff cuts.

There is enormous scope for elimination of waste within IT, but until now such efforts have taken a back-seat to more aspirational projects. Where IT cost-control has been a focus for an organization, well-intentioned IT staff have taken measures they consider adequate to mitigate future spend, but for reasons unique to the world of software licensing, costs continue to rise beyond the effective range of traditional cost control methodologies. Absent an awareness of modern, focused approaches to cost control, IT can be forgiven for suggesting this is ‘as good as it gets’.

Scalable provides a genuinely new avenue to explore that can dramatically drive down the software and management costs of the user community. The key here is that Scalable represents a new approach, so no one can suggest that prior efforts were poorly executed; what is possible with Scalable’s products has simply not been possible before. With individuals’ livelihoods now at stake, elimination of wasteful spending has to be considered the top priority. Can you afford not to be seen to be doing everything in your power to stop the waste?
